Annual report of the Attorney General of the United States for the year 1890 (Date: 1891-01-01; Author: U.S. Congress. HouseSerial Set Vol. No. 2851, Session Vol. No.2151st Congress, 2nd SessionH.Exec.Doc. 7, Page 50) lists John B. Garbison as one of five men to receive $3.00 each on September 30, 1890 "for information regarding Robert P. Halliday, fugative from justice." NY Times article dated August 27, 1889 indicates that Halliday misappropriated up to $25,000 from the First National Bank in Mt. Gilead.
