David Isaac HOCKSPRINGER
Birth:1773 Ref: [1]

Notes:
Currently assuming that all the Hockspringers on the passenger list are David, Sarah, and their children. It is possible that Legine could be David and Sarah's granddaugher, and that one of the older girls could be Isaac's wife, and Legine their daughter. But until other contrary evidence arises, the assumption is that Legine was born to Sarah when Sarah was 47 years old.

Most of the family changed their surname to Springer after arriving in America in 1840.

A transcription of the passenger list of the "Bark Virginia" (http://immigrantships.net/v13/1800v13/virginia18400729.html) indicates that the ship sailed from Bremen on July 5, 1840, and arrived in Baltimore on July 29th. Their origin seems to have been Obbach, Germany (listed in the transcription as "Oba?").
