Notes: Invitation to reception for the wedding of Henry Fox and Sallie Springer gave (possible home) address of 81 Camden Street. Philadelphia Jewish Exponent apparently has an obituary in the 9/24/1897 issue, page 11. The JewishGen Online Burial Registry (http://data.jewishgen.org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsearch~model2~[jowbr]J_MD_2_RECNUM48787) gives a death date of 1-Jan-1897, but that is likely due to a record with only the year listed. Levi Benjamin's will refers to "Martha Hockspringer, wife of Michael Hockspringer". This implies that the Springer family might have originally been Hockspringer. Moses Hockspringer5, (age 14) shows up on a passenger list of the Bark Virginia, which sailed from Bremen on July 5, 1840, and arrived in Baltimore on July 29th. Eleven other Hockspringer's were also on board, ranging in age from 9 to 67. Moses' age by source: 1840 passenger list: 14 1850 census: 24 1860 census: 34 1870 census: 42 1880 census: 50 Additional Pictures: (click to enlarge)
